Frequently asked questions
What is XIRR?
XIRR (extended internal rate of return) is the single yearly return that accounts for every amount you put in and took out, and the date of each. It is the standard way to measure SIP returns.
How do I enter a SIP?
Add one "Invest" row for each instalment with its date and amount. Then add a "Redeem / current value" row with today's date and the current value of your investment.
Why is XIRR different from CAGR?
CAGR suits a single investment held for a period. XIRR handles many investments on different dates, so it gives a fair annual return for SIPs.
Why can I not get a result?
You need at least one investment and one redemption or current value. Very unusual patterns of cash flows may not have a single return rate.
