Frequently asked questions
What is a Systematic Withdrawal Plan (SWP)?
An SWP lets you withdraw a fixed amount from a mutual fund at regular intervals, such as every month, while the rest of your money stays invested.
How is the SWP balance calculated?
Each month the remaining balance is assumed to earn one-twelfth of the annual return rate, and then the withdrawal is paid out. If the balance is not enough to cover a withdrawal, the plan stops.
How do I make my money last longer?
Withdraw less each month, invest a larger amount, or choose a withdrawal close to or below the returns your investment earns, so the principal is not used up.
Does the calculator include tax on withdrawals?
No. Each withdrawal may be treated as a redemption and can attract capital gains tax and exit loads. The figures shown are before tax.
