Work out the profit and return on a stock you bought and sold (or hold now), including dividends received.
Frequently asked questions
How is stock return calculated?
Total return = (sale value − purchase cost + dividends) ÷ purchase cost. The annualised return (CAGR) spreads this over the holding period.
Should I include dividends?
Yes. Dividends are part of what the stock earned you. Leave the field at zero if none were paid.
Are charges and tax included?
No. Brokerage, STT, stamp duty and capital gains tax reduce your actual return. Use our Brokerage and Capital Gains Tax Calculators to estimate them.
